Hi! I’m Brianna and I recently graduated from college, where I studied architecture and applied geosystems sciences (in short, I researched, studied, and designed sustainable products and spaces with communities in the US and abroad to increase sustainability//you can read more about my other work here). I’m (re)starting* the sea x love for my friends and family to keep up with me and share works, spaces, and communities (with their permission) that I love. I’ll also post some insights to whatever I’m working on, different recipes I create, and fashion (honestly this mostly be clothes/fashion). Thanks for checking the sea x love out!
*the sea x love is a revamping of my teenage blog, it mostly covers fashion (generally through a lens of sustainability and sometimes through design) but sometimes I talk about art, food, money, and my life living in NYC as a furniture designer (I own studio apotroes). i’m figuring out what this is truly and how open I want to be so right now it’s a lot of lists with some commentary. there is a lot of flexibility and fluidity because, well because i am human and figuring things out. thanks for reading i’m including a fqa/list below
who are you? i’m brianna nichole love! i started a furniture company/practice called “studio apotroes” in 2021 + you should really check out my furniture 🙂
why is this called “the sea”? it stands for “the sustainable ethical alternative, when this was purely a fashion blog focused on sustainable fashion. i started this back in the ~2010s overtime my approach and understanding has changed. i’ve developed more habits and this will probably be something i discuss in more depth here.
what’s your style? hmmm great question but truthfully i’m still figuring that out…that’s actually why i decided to review this also i do really love fashion and dressing up but i was a bit depressed for many years so this is me rediscovering something i love. i’m figuring out how to describe my style but i do have a bit of a running list of brands i like…
kk so what are your favorite brands/designers? first, Chloé. okay i’m actually going to break this down by category because it’s easier
general/overall/big houses: Chloé, valentino, gucci (okay really alessandro michele) (and to some degree prada)
clothes: lils studio, yassmin saleh, magda butrym, mmuso maxwell, tanner fletcher, alemais, ulla johnson, sea new york, stella mccartney
shoes: roger vivier, brother vellies, yvonne kone, church’s (dieppa restrepo was a long time favorite) (i’m always on the hunt for new shoe brands)
a lot of the things i pull will fit into this vibe but they will not always be from these brands
where do draw inspiration? i draw a lot inspiration from films and art but also random images i see and stories i read
cool why should i follow your substack? bc you want to learn about new brands (that will likely be really unknown to everyone around you) and maybe see some outfits i style or hear about different things happening in nyc or bc you’re just like me and really nosy
